George Tziralis

George (b. 1982) is an engineer and entrepreneur turned venture capitalist.

He has founded a couple of software companies, one specializing in prediction markets and another in data mining. He is widely recognized as the initiator the Open Coffee community in Greece, organizing monthly meetings in Athens since 2007.

In 2009, he co-founded the Openfund, which he now serves as a Partner. He is mostly focusing on marketing and business development, while serving in a number of boards of portfolio companies.

George holds a PhD in Operations Research and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, both from the National Technical University of Athens.

Alexandros Roustas

Alexandros runs the program and manages relationships with mentors, partners and investors.

He started his career as a research associate in the National Technical University of Athens and he then moved to Attica Telecom, since the very early days. Attica Telecom developed and operated the first private fiber optic network in Greece, disrupting the local wholesale telecom services market. The company was acquired by HoL in 2006 for 50M euros. He then joined Link S.A., a specialized broadband network developer and telecom equipment distributor serving the largest telecom operators in the region. During his career he has served several operations and business roles.
Alexandros has also been involved in various consulting projects of the private and public sector, the most recent of which is the Fiber to The Home Network Study for the Greek Ministry of Transportation. Alexandros holds a diploma in Electrical Engineering and a Master in Business Administration, both from the National Technical University of Athens.

Costas Troulos

Costas Troulos is an electrical and computer engineer with an MBA in entrepreneurship and an interdisciplinary PhD in telecommunications and public policy. He has a strong professional background in IT, telecoms and public policy, and significant experience in managing IT, constructions, research and innovation projects. His interests include Next Generation Access (NGA) networks, public-private partnerships, content delivery, the socio-economic impact of ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship. Costas is currently working with the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises in the ambitious program ΜΑΖΙ ΣΤΗΝ ΕΚΚΙΝΗΣΗ that aims at assisting young researchers and scientists to develop entrepreneurial skills and learn how to turn their innovations into a business idea. He is an experienced business coach and have worked with teams from the health, energy, ICT and foods industries. He also runs the telecoms consultancy Broadband Prime. Costas is also a member of Infostrag, an interdisciplinary scientific group for the technological, economic and strategic analysis of the Information Society and more generally, the society and economy of knowledge.

Michael Tsaoutos

Michael Tsaoutos was born in 1965 and grew up in Volos. He lives in Athens with his wife and three daughters. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and was awarded a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Warwick Business School.
Since 2010 he is the General Manager of EPSA Soft Drinks. EPSA produces soft drinks since 1924 and its products are available all over Greece. Exports are building up and currently EPSA exports to 15 countries, including Australia, China and USA. During the last few years EPSA introduced innovative products into the market, namely Organic Lemonade and Orangeade and the "EPSA light" series, where sugar is replaced by sweetener from the stevia plant.
Before EPSA, Michael had worked for more than two decades in Lambrakis Press. He started in 1988 as a Technology Editor for Apple products in RAM magazine. Later he became Editorial Editor for BHMARAM newspaper insert, for bit magazine and inLife magazine. He was a member of the team that started www.in.gr portal and organized all paid subscriptions of in.gr. From 2003 until 2010 he became General Manager of Shop21.gr (Lambrakis Press' e-commerce site). Until recently he worked as a technology consultant for RAM and HiTECH magazines. When time permits, he still plays around with various Apple devices.
He was a member of the Greek national ski team, Greek national water ski team and represented Greece in Camel Trophy 2000 and Land Rover G4 Challenge. For the last few years he enjoys running long distance races and participating in triathlon competitions.

Makis Antypas

Makis Antypas studied Industrial Management at the University of Piraeus and Information Systems (MSc) at the University of Sheffield.

Since 2004, he is a board member and Managing Partner of Realize and one of the founders of Viva Online Services (2006) and Viva Payments (2010). He works full time as CIO of Viva Payments, in charge of technology, operations and new services development.

Makis joined the TEDxAcademy team in 2010 and took part in the organization of 4 TEDx events in Athens and several parallel activities like the Rising Stars mentoring program and the Call to Innovation contest in collaboration with Singularity University.

Occasionally, he writes at protagon.gr on technology related topics.

Athanasios Belidis

Dr. Athanasios Belidis was awarded the PhD of Economic Sciences from the University of Paris VIII-X. Currently, he is Professor of the Business Administration School in the Marketing Department of the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki and a Member of the Institute’s Board of Directors. Additionally he is the Institute's Scientific Supervisor for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit.

Dr. Athanasios Belidis has many years of educating experience and has educated organization and enterprise executives in Greece and abroad on matters of management. He has served as a consultant for the Agricultural Union of Halkidiki, a consultant for the Greek Productivity Centre, a consultant for the Statute CAFIA Czech Republic and is shareholder of Alpha Consulting Europe among others.

In recent years he is involved in the development of innovative new businesses, organizes new business accelerator programs and is involved in the creation of networks of mentors and searches for investment capital for new investors .

Harry Kalogirou

Harry Kalogirou studied Computer Science at the University of Piraeus and did his masters in Software Engineering at the University of Ioannina. He possesses a wide range of interests and experience, from web development and databases to operating system design and implementation to 3D accelerated graphics and high performance algorithms. Since 2010 he founded the company "nlogn" and has produced and published three successful and award winning video games, across 4 mobile platforms.

Spyros Lalis

Spyros received his Diploma in Informatics Engineering
and PhD in Technical Sciences (Computer Science) from
the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ).
He was among the very first who joined the Electrical and
Computer Engineering Department of the University of Thessaly
where he currently teaches as an Associate Professor, while
he is also a Research Associate at the Institute for Research
and Technology of CERTH. His research is mainly on system
software, distributed systems and pervasive computing.
He was a co-founder and technology consultant of O2B,
which evolved into Upstream, a company with worldwide
business activity in mobile marketing. More information

Alexandros Melis

Alexandros Melis has a Bachelor on Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master in Arts in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations from The University of Sheffield. He has an extensive working experience both in Event Marketing and Community Management. He is also a co-founder of Sponsor Boat and THHF festival.

Maria Markatou

Dr. Maria Markatou is an Economist and Regional Land-Planner Engineer. She has been a Lecturer at the Technological Educational Institute of Larissa (TEI) and a Scientific-Research Associate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens n Greece. She holds a PhD in Economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and two master degrees, the first in Science and Technology Policy (SPRU-United Kingdom) and the second in Production Management and Engineering (University of Thessaly-Greece). Her teaching experience focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship, while her research interests centre on the management and measurement of intellectual property rights and innovation, entrepreneurship, regional development and national-regional innovation systems.

Nikolaos Nanas

Every night, Nick is the co-founder and CEO at NOOWIT.com, a platform for personalized content delivery. He is also a co-founder and advisor at Noodio.fm, a music streaming service for socially curated band promotion and at StageDiving.gr, a web app for targeted promotion of music concerts. In the context of these startups he does business and product development, UI/UX design and implementation and likes to discuss about Web technologies/trends and online media in general.

In the morning, Dr Nikolaos Nanas is a researcher at the Institute for Research and Technology Thessaly (IRETETH) of the Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). He studied civil engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). He received his M.S. degree in Intelligent Systems from the University of Sussex (U.K.) and his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the Knowledge Media Institute of the Open University (U.K.). He has taught Web Technologies and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Thessaly and at the Technical Educational Institute of Larissa. His research work lies in the areas of Biologically Inspired Computing, Adaptive Information Filtering, and Statistical Natural Language Processing and Web Personalization.

Demitrios Pournarakis

Demitrios is currently pursuing his PhD at Athens University of Economics and Business, as a member of the ISTLab of DMST. He holds a BSc in Business Administration from Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Information Systems from City University London and an iMBA from Athens University of Economics and Business.
He is co-founder and responsible for the UI / UX design of nimbata, a global enterprise analytics company specializing on voice applications on the cloud. In the past he has worked as an IT Consultant at IBM, involved mainly, in large scale projects in the telecommunications and energy sectors.
